Jhon Duran ‘gives green light to West Ham move’ in Aston Villa exit shock

Martin Allen believes Jhon Duran has given West Ham encouragement to submit a January bid.

The Hammers made a £57million bid for the Colombia international earlier in the window but the approach was instantly rejected by Aston Villa [David Ornstein].

Unai Emery’s side has no intention in letting the 21-year-old leave this winter but there is every chance that the striker could force through a move.

Former Irons midfielder Allen believes that a bid wouldn’t have been made at the London Stadium unless there was some encouragement from the player and his agent.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Allen said: “It’s been quite well-documented that West Ham have made a big bid for Duran.

Whether it will be enough to get him or they’ll go in with more, whether Duran wants to go to West Ham, these are questions that need to be answered.

In my days as a manager, you would find out from the player and his agent if the player actually wants to come.

If they say yes then the club would then start bidding for him, start low and work their way up to try and get him.

If Duran doesn’t want to come, West Ham wouldn’t have put that bid in so they must have got some good information that he wants the move.

They will have been aware of the price and whether they go up to that number, only time will tell.

Jhon Duran green lights West Ham deal with Aston Villa

It will be an encouraging sign to Graham Potter and Co. that it appears that the highly coveted young forward wants to move to East London.

It appears that Duran will be growing frustrated with his role at Villa Park after playing second fiddle to Ollie Watkins in the last four games.

Given the level of sides interested in his signature, there is only so long that the former Chicago Fire ace will accept being an impact sub.

This could give the Hammers the perfect opportunity to step in and sign an excellent talent in the winter window.
