Frank McAvennie reacts as West Ham reportedly make Aaron Ramsey enquiry
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey has recently been linked with a move to West Ham, and Irons icon Frank McAvennie is a big fan of the Wales international.
Ramsey, 30, joined the Italian giants in 2019 after his Arsenal contract expired, signing a four-year deal with the Old Lady that sees him rake in wages of over £400,000-a-week [BBC].
However, injury and form have seen Ramsey come under scrutiny in Turin, and recent reports suggest he could be set for a January exit back to England.
According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, David Moyes’ side have reportedly made an enquiry over his availability in the winter transfer window, while Everton are the other Premier League side who reportedly hold an interest in the Cardiff City academy graduate.
Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano also claimed on his personal Twitter profile last week that Ramsey is expected to make a decision over his future in December.
McAvennie, who scored 60 goals in 190 games across two spells for the Irons, has expressed his admiration for the Welsh midfielder who scored at Euro 2020 in June to inspire his nation to the knock-out stages of the competition.
“Aaron Ramsey has been brilliant for Wales,” McAvennie told West Ham Zone.
“There are some good players, and he’s a good player.
“I really do like him.”
In other West Ham news, David Moyes is in awe of this ‘prodigious talent’ that has been fast-tracked through the Irons ranks.
