Frank McAvennie predicts West Ham clash v West Brom
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has taken a bit of a swipe at Sam Allardyce ahead of West Ham’s clash against West Brom at The Hawthorns on Wednesday night.
David Moyes’ men go into the match knowing that after Chelsea’s win against Leicester on Tuesday, they cannot finish in the Premier League’s top-four places anymore.
However, the Irons can still qualify for the Europa League and McAvennie expects them to earn all three points in the Black Country on Wednesday.
Ahead of the game, McAvennie has also suggested Big Sam should put a lid on his criticism about refereeing performances after West Brom lost to Liverpool at the weekend.
Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “I think West Ham will beat them 2-0, I’ve got a feeling.
“Big Sam made noises about Liverpool this and that – get on with it. The big guy’s coming up the field unmarked, that’s not anybody’s fault.”
If West Ham win both of their remaining fixtures they can finish as high as fifth in the Premier League but it would take both Liverpool and Tottenham dropping some points.
After playing West Brom, the Hammers end their season by playing Southampton at the London Stadium while Liverpool play Burnley (A) and Crystal Palace (H) in their final two games and Spurs play Aston Villa (H) and Leicester (A) in their last fixtures.
West Ham and Liverpool definitely have the favourable fixtures and if Spurs drop points, we’d be more than happy with a sixth-placed finish.
It would see us qualify for the Europa League and also finish above Tottenham, which would be huge for the Hammers.
In other West Ham news, Gary Neville has shared a big claim about Manchester United and Jesse Lingard.
