Frank McAvennie predicts scoreline of West Ham clash v Manchester United

We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…

Frank McAvennie predicts West Ham to keep up their unbeaten start to the season with a draw against Manchester United on Sunday.

The London Stadium clash will see a meeting of two sides without a loss on their league record so far.

Manchester United have collected 10 points from their first four Premier League games, though they suffered disappointment on Tuesday as they lost 2-1 to BSC Young Boys in the Champions League.

West Ham, meanwhile, enjoyed success on the continent on Thursday as they beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 in Croatia.

However, they have not claimed a domestic victory since August 23 after successive draws against Crystal Palace and Southampton.

Ex-Irons hero McAvennie believes David Moyes’ side will make it a hat-trick of league draws in east London this weekend.

“It’s a tough game, they’ve got them twice in a week as well with the League Cup,” McAvennie told West Ham Zone.

“I’m thinking 1-1 each, I think it will be a draw.”

West Ham

West Ham’s recent home record against Manchester United should offer them some confidence for Sunday’s clash.

The Red Devils have won just twice since the Irons made the move to the London Stadium in 2016, though one of those victories came during last season’s trip with a 3-1 success.

Moyes was shorn of the services of Michail Antonio for that meeting in December 2020, and he will be again this weekend as the Jamaica international serves a one-game suspension for last week’s red card against Southampton.

In other West Ham news, Charlie Nicholas claims David Moyes is livid after this recent Irons incident.
