McAvennie hopes Soucek and Coufal can convince Czech teammates to join West Ham
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has revealed exclusively to West Ham Zone he hopes Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal can persuade some of their Czech Republic teammates to the London Stadium this summer.
The Czechs are through to the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 after coming through their group in third place and then beating the Netherlands in the last-16.
On Saturday, they face Denmark to play either England or Ukraine in the semi-final next week, and McAvennie would like to see Coufal and Soucek bring some of their teammates back with them when they return.

He said: “David Moyes will be on the phone asking them, can they bring some of their pals back with them.
“There’s a couple of good players there.”
The former West Ham man then went on to praise the duo of Coufal and Soucek.
“I’ve met the boys, and they’re humble boys; you can’t beat that.
“These two boys come in every day, train hard, do a bit extra and then go home.”
Soucek and Coufal were a breath of fresh air for the Hammers and often skipped their days off to go to Rush Green and train [Evening Standard].
That attitude rubbed off on their teammates and probably helped West Ham achieve a sixth-place finish.

One player linked with a move to the London Stadium who also plays with Soucek and Coufal for the Czech Republic is Alex Kral, so could the Hammers duo have a word with Kral to convince him to join them [Nicolo Schira]?
McAvennie certainly hopes to see more Czech players at the London Stadium for the upcoming season, and if they are like Coufal and Soucek, then there is no reason why the Hammers shouldn’t be trying to sign more Czech players.
