Frank McAvennie drops bold Danny Ings West Ham United ‘fox’ claim
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes Danny Ings should be West Ham United’s first-choice striker when he is fit and available.
Michail Antonio led the line in the Hammers’ 1-1 draw against Newcastle United on 4 February, with Gianluca Scamacca still recovering from injury.
Ings is coming back from a minor knock himself, and McAvennie has suggested whenever the 30-year-old is available again, he should be Moyes’ go-to front man.

“It’s a strange one for Moyes but for me, I haven’t seen enough of Scamacca yet. There was something not right at the club and they were annoyed early on in the season,” McAvennie exclusively told West Ham Zone.
“I think if you get all of these boys playing, West Ham are a great team you know, I really do think that. I think some of the players are excellent and with Ings, you give him seven or eight chances and he will score six or seven of them.
“He a wee fox in the box if you like. A poacher. He wants to be in and around the box; we’ve not had one of them for a long time at West Ham.
“He’s done it for years in the Premiership and he should be number one if he’s fit.”

Moyes could have all three forwards available for this weekend’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at the London Stadium.
But Maxwel Cornet and Kurt Zouma are both long terms absentees and they have been joined by Thilo Kehrer, who is set for a spell on the sidelines.
