Frank McAvennie: Aaron Cresswell has ‘new lease of life’ at West Ham
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
David Moyes has been able to enjoy seeing left-back Aaron Cresswell blossom at West Ham and Frank McAvennie hopes he gets rewarded.
The 33-year-old could be offered a new contract at the London Stadium very soon which might see him remain a Hammer until the end of his career [Claret and Hugh].
You won’t hear many complaints about that either given how the Englishman has provided so many magical moments in a West Ham shirt since he arrived from Ispwich Town in 2014.

Nearly 250 appearances later, McAvennie hopes that his loyalty and form for the Irons will see him earn a new deal with the club.
“At the beginning, I thought his defending could have been better,” McAvennie said exclusively to West Ham Zone. “He’s in a system now with Moyes that he’s shining in.
“Give him a good contract and hopefully it will be a long deal. In terms of ‘does he deserve it?’ of course he does.
“David’s got this structure at the club that Cresswell is relishing in. Now he’s got this new role, he’s found a new lease of life so I’m hoping he does get rewarded.”

The left-back remains a critical part of Moyes’ side with his pinpoint set-piece delivery bringing many a chance and goal to West Ham this season.
His invaluable experience has also helped the likes of Ben Johnson come through in the same position and slot seamlessly into the Hammers side which should leave them in good stead when Cresswell eventually hangs up his boots.
In other West Ham news, the club have been put on red alert as their Premier League rivals look set to cash in on their talisman.
