Exclusive: Frank McAvennie reacts to Sky Sports report on David Moyes contract
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has claimed that David Moyes deserves a new contract at West Ham United this season.
The Irons are currently sitting seventh in the Premier League, despite their run of impressive results coming to an end against Manchester United on Saturday.
McAvennie admitted that more praise needs to go to the likes of Kevin Nolan and Stuart Pearce, who he wants to see stick around at the London Stadium.
When asked whether Moyes deserves the new deal, McAvennie was clear that it was more than the manager who needs to stick around.
“I think so,” McAvennie told West Ham Zone.
“You’ve got to give his backroom staff new contracts as well. I like Nolan, he gets the players going – if the players have a problem, they can go to Nolan and they’ll go to Stuart Pearce now.
“That’s what you need between the dressing room and the manager’s office, they’ve got that in abundance there.”
Sky Sports claimed that the Irons have already opened talks over a new deal, something that could be the perfect Christmas present.

That shows that the boss and his staff are currently the priority, and they will want to concentrate on matters on the pitch and transforming this good start into a potential finish in the European spots.
