Exclusive: Frank McAvennie predicts West Ham clash v Sheffield United
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has backed West Ham United to beat Sheffield United in their Premier League clash on Monday evening.
The West Ham Zone pundit has predicted that the Irons will sweep the South Yorkshire aside and win 2-0 at the London Stadium.
Chris Wilder’s men currently sit bottom of the Premier League, despite their recent upturn in form and results during their relegation scrap.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said, “It’s a massive game for Sheffield United.
“I wouldn’t take it easy. Home games mean nothing now so it’s a big game. I expect West Ham to beat them, I think they’ll have too much.
“McBurnie and Burke, hopefully, I won’t jinx it, but they’ve not been doing very well and they’ve not been scoring many goals.
“I think they’ve got to win, I’ll go with 2-0.”
This is a must-win game for the Hammers.
After disappointment in the FA Cup last week, three points here would send them into the Champions League spots once again and leave that clash at Old Trafford in the past.
With Liverpool and Spurs struggling this season, there is a real opportunity for teams such as the Irons to take advantage.
David Moyes won’t be taking this one easily, and he will want his side to stamp their authority early and make it much more comfortable than the 0-0 draw at Fulham.
