Exclusive: Frank McAvennie predicts result of West Ham clash v Brighton

We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…

Frank McAvennie has backed West Ham to return to winning ways in the Premier League this weekend against Brighton.

The former Irons forward has predicted that the Hammers will pick up a 2-0 win, after going two without a victory.

David Moyes’ men have drawn with Crystal Palace and lost heavily at Chelsea since their last victory against Leeds at Elland Road.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said, “After defeat, they’ll want to bounce back because they’ve had their plaudits about how they’re playing.

“They’ve enjoyed all of that, so hopefully, it doesn’t go to their head. I think it’s a great game that they can win, they can go and win that game. David will want to get them back to that winning run.

“Even when they get beat, they feel good because even that Chelsea game, it wasn’t a 3-0.

As for his score prediction for the game, the former Hammer backed the Irons to keep a clean sheet after a run of conceding goals.

“2-0.”

Brighton are struggling in the Premier League this season, and could only manage a draw against the even-worst Sheffield United last time out.

What made this even worst was the fact that the Blades were down to 10-men for the majority of the clash, as they struggled to create any chances.

With one win, the Hammers can jump straight back into contention for European football and with the matches coming thick and fast in the Premier League, it is important that the Irons string together some results.
