Daniel Kretinsky takes huge deal after West Ham United chief development

Dan Plumley has insisted that West Ham United chief Daniel Kretinsky has shown his financial wealth and power with his takeover of Royal Mail.

The Czech billionaire agreed to a £3.5billion takeover of the Royal Mail’s parent company, International Distributions Services (IDS) at the end of May [Bloomberg].

The finance expert admitted that it’s difficult to say what that means for West Ham in the end, but it does show exactly what Kretinsky can do with his money.

“I think it shows his financial wealth and power,” he exclusively told West Ham Zone.

“It’s a really interesting deal in itself, notwithstanding all of his other business interests.

I guess, it’s really difficult to say if that would mean anything for West Ham, I suppose what you are potentially looking at, is as some of the fans have asked in the past, does he want to assume full control of West Ham in the future?

The current stake is about 27 per cent, does taking a huge deal like this for Royal Mail probably eat into some of his wealth in the short term and then a lot of his time in the short, medium and long term?

So, there are maybe things you could look at there in what his longer-term objectives are for West Ham, but again, that may prove positively linked to this particular takeover.

You’re kind of trying to second guess with it, but it’s certainly an interesting deal and if nothing else, shows his wealth and power.”

Kretinsky shows power at West Ham United

This is certainly something to keep an eye on, with Kretinsky not slowing down outside of West Ham and the London Stadium.

David Sullivan continues to run the ship for the Irons and is working very closely with Tim Steidten during this transfer window, with little mention of Kretinsky himself.
