WHZ View: Antonio shocker in Fulham draw highlights West Ham mistake in January

West Ham United disappointingly laboured to a 0-0 draw in their Premier League clash against Fulham on Saturday.

The Hammers were looking to continue their impressive run of form and would have jumped into the Champions League spots with a win.

It all came to a shocking end too, with Tomas Soucek receiving a questionable red card for his accidental elbow on Aleksandar Mitrovic.

West Ham

Michail Antonio put in one of his worst performances of the season.

The 30-year-old didn’t manage a single shot on goal and completed zero key passes according to WhoScored in a quiet night in the final third.

Instead, he lost possession numerous times and took three bad touches under pressure from the Cottagers defence.

The striker hasn’t scored since the 2-1 win over West Brom and has only delivered assists for his side in the victories against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

West Ham

David Moyes doesn’t have many options, and that wasn’t helped by the recent January transfer window at the London Stadium.

First, Sebastien Haller was allowed to leave the Irons in order to join Ajax, before a replacement was secured.

After that, the Hammers failed with numerous moves for out-and-out strikers, something that wasn’t made a big deal at the time.

Now, it looks like a disaster.

Antonio has no real competition and his only replacement in games and if he gets injured his academy talent Mipo Odubeko.

The form of Antonio is only highlighting just how much of a mistake that Moyes made last month, and we have to cross our fingers that it doesn’t come back to haunt him this season.
