WHZ Moment of the Match: Seb Haller turns corner with West Ham masterclass

West Ham drew against Crystal Palace on Monday night as goals from Christian Benteke and Sebastien Haller meant the points were shared at the London Stadium.

Benteke saw red in the second half after collecting a second yellow card but the Hammers were unable to capitalise with their man advantage.

The result isn’t a bad one for the Hammers as Palace can be a tricky side to beat, as Tottenham found out at the weekend.

West Ham Zone has selected Haller’s outrageous equaliser as their Moment of the Match.

Not only did Haller score a vital goal but he did it in some style and it would be surprising if any Irons goal this season beats Wednesday’s effort to the club’s goal of the season award.

Vladimir Coufal’s cross had the perfect mixture of accuracy and pace as is found Haller in the centre of the box.

The Ivorian international rose highest but it wasn’t his head that he used to put the ball past Guaita in the Palace net.

An overhead kick of sensational proportions followed as Haller connected so well with the strike he nearly burst the net.

The finish rescued a vital point and fans will wonder if this is the moment that Haller’s West Ham career truly sparks into life.

A goal like that will give him all of the confidence in the world and with Michail Antonio coming back to full fitness shorty he may have staked a claim in the starting 11 with his effort.

Plaudits rolled in moments after Haller scored with Gary Lineker describing it as ‘a hallelujah of a goal’ in a tweet, we appreciate the pun.

Haller’s goal was the moment of the game at it could easily be one of the Irons’ moments of the season so far.

The colossal forward has missed bucketloads of chances against the likes of Leeds and is the Haller we have all been crying out for – fingers crossed he sticks around.

In other West Ham news, David Moyes has explained why the club didn’t move for one of Palace’s players in the summer.
