West Ham United exit decision backfires for Jamal Baptiste after PL announcement
Jamal Baptiste has been released by Manchester City less than a year after making the switch from West Ham United.
The youngster departed London Stadium 12 months ago and was snapped up by Premier League rivals City in August 2023.
However, Baptiste clearly has not made the impression expected and is now without a club after his contract was not renewed.
The Premier League confirmed on its website on Wednesday (5 June) that Baptiste and Josh Adam have been released by Man City.
The full circumstances behind the 20-year-old’s West Ham exit remain unclear, although it was indicated it was his decision to move on.
Baptiste was said to be seeking more regular first-team football, which seemed bizarre on the face of it as it was not going to arrive at City.
Manchester City announce released list
The England Under-19s international made a couple of senior appearances for West Ham, so he could see opportunities would arise.
Instead, the decision to leave and join City has not gone to plan and he is now on the lookout for a third team in the space of just over a year.
The problem is that Baptiste barely featured on loan with Lommel last season, meaning teams may be put off making an approach.

Even after his decision to leave West Ham, Irons fans will still wish Baptiste all the best in getting his career back on track somewhere else.
In other West Ham news, the club risk being made to look silly over a Tim Steidten transfer call.
