David Moyes snub could be good news for West Ham United ahead of Manchester City match
David Moyes missed out on the Premier League Manager of the Month award for August, but it could prove to be a blessing in disguise for West Ham.
Lucas Paqueta also missed out on the Player of the Month award, with Tottenham claiming a double as Ange Postecoglou and James Maddison came out on top in their respective categories.
West Ham and Tottenham have an identical record so far in terms of points, and many will question if Postecoglou was more deserving of the accolade than Moyes.
In all honestly, though, it may be better that Moyes was not recognised by his peers.
After all, as Football365 pointed out towards the end of last season, every team experienced a drop off – alarmingly so in many instances – after their manager landed the individual award.
This can be explained by teams simply reverting back to the norm after a particularly impressive month, of course, but either way it is now considered a curse.

So while West Ham fans can look forward to Tottenham now slipping up in their three remaining games this month, the Hammers will look to build on a positive start to the campaign when they host Manchester City on Saturday [16 September].
Pep Guardiola was himself nominated for the August award, but he missed out to Postecoglou despite a perfect record in August, albeit he was not in the dugout for one of those games.
As nice as individual awards are, hopefully West Ham can nicely go about their business under the radar and remain in contention for a European spot.
In other West Ham news, Chris Sutton insists Moyes “will not care” about one aspect of United’s showdown with Man City this weekend.
