West Ham and their transfer team should be on red alert after Fabrizio Romano shared that Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy has a £15.2million release clause in his contract.

The reliable journalist shared via his personal Twitter account that the clause will already be valid in the January transfer window, and will be active in both winter and summer windows.

West Ham have been linked with a move for Guirassy in recent days [TEAMtalk, 23 October], after the striker scored 15 goals in his first nine games so far this season.

A sub-£20million release clause in the contract of a top division striker with 15 goals already this season is too good of an opportunity for any club to pass up, and West Ham need to ensure they are at the top of his long list of admirers if they want to bring him to East London.

With a goal tally and goal-to-game ratio like the one Guirassy boasts, there are bound to be many high-level suitors for the striker, but West Ham should be able to offer him the opportunity to be the number one striker every week at a club competing in a European competition.

This is the type of opportunity that doesn’t come around often at all, and if the East London club can capitalise on his availability, it will improve their chances of remaining competitive across all four competitions this season by a significant portion.

Michail Antonio has been frustrating lately with just two goals so far this season, but the shortage of strikers at the club has left David Moyes without any other option. The Hammers were chasing a new striker over the summer, but couldn’t get anything done.

Now that this deal has become available, West Ham can’t afford to miss out.
