West Ham United can greenlight Emerson exit after what happened at Villa Park
Graham Potter can allow Emerson to leave West Ham United after what he saw against Aston Villa on Friday.
The Italy international has been linked with a move away from the London Stadium in recent months, with Galatasaray showing an interest most recently [Sabah].
The Hammers value the 30-year-old at a reported £10.1million, funds which could be utilised to fund the new head coach’s January transfer business.
After what happened at Villa Park on 10 January, there is no reason why the Irons can’t accept a fee in this region and move on without the ex-Chelsea man.
West Ham can greenlight Emerson exit after Aston Villa defeat
The Hammers fell to a 2-1 defeat in their first game under new management despite Lucas Paqueta’s early strike.
Although the performance level fell as the game went on, potentially due to tiredness, there was one silver lining to take from the FA Cup exit.
Oliver Scarles came in for his first start of the season and performed at a top level, which seriously impressed the travelling Irons fans.
The 19-year-old was a constant runner down the left flank and didn’t allow Leon Bailey a moments peace until the Jamaica international was eventually substituted by Unai Emery.

The Villa winger was one of the best in the Premier League last season and was kept quiet by the East London academy talent, which is only a good sign for the future.
If Potter has faith in the youngster and is willing to trust him week in and week out, there is no reason why the Hammers shouldn’t cash in on Emerson while they can.
