West Ham must try to sign Alberth Elis after his agent’s admission

The upcoming summer transfer window will be all about strikers for West Ham United with Michail Antonio desperately needing support in the role.

The Jamaican has been the sole number nine at the London Stadium this season and has played an awful lot of games as a result as well as for his national team.

Hammers boss David Moyes appears to be reaching far and wide to find at least one new attacker to add to his ranks with Bordeaux striker Alberth Elis one player to be linked with a move [Foot Mercato].

The Honduras international, 26, has scored nine goals already this season in Ligue 1 and his agent, Daniel Solis, has admitted that they have held talks over his future.

“It’s true. I can’t say names, but yes,” he said, as quoted by Diez.

It’s very encouraging to hear for West Ham supporters with the Honduran bringing not only goals but experience to Moyes’ squad.

January was a disappointing month in terms of transfer activity and the club will be more than aware that the supporters were not pleased to see no new faces enter the club.

Elis provides a brilliant opportunity to do that and the club have to do whatever they can to bring him to the London Stadium.

He isn’t the only player titillating the interests of Moyes and the Irons though with Alexandre Lacazette of Arsenal another name who has been rumoured with a move to West Ham in the summer [TEAMtalk].

The Frenchman would at least be a free transfer with him and the Gunners in a contract stalemate at the Emirates and his current deal coming to an end at the completion of this season.

In other West Ham news, Moyes has been instilling his previous European experience into the squad ahead of Thursday’s Europa League second leg against Sevilla.
