Tomas Soucek one of 6 axed, Gianluca Scamacca to start - West Ham United predicted X v AEK Larnaca

David Moyes is likely to make several changes to his West Ham starting lineup when they return to European action against AEK Larnaca on Thursday (10 March).

The Hammers were thumped 4-0 by Brighton at the weekend, leaving them just one point above the relegation zone with 13 games remaining in the season.

But a flawless Europa Conference League season so far has been the highlight and it resumes at the last 16 stage against the team from Cyprus, with Moyes likely to bring some players in for much-needed minutes.

Lukasz Fabianski remains out after undergoing surgery on his fractured cheekbone and eye-socket, meaning Alphonse Areola will continue between the sticks.

Vladimir Coufal is also injured with a heel problem, so Ben Johnson should continue at right-back. Angelo Ogbonna was forced off against Brighton and replaced by a returning Kurt Zouma, so he should start now alongside Morocco international Nayef Aguerd, while the experience of Aaron Cresswell is likely to come in at left-back.

In midfield Tomas Soucek has started struggling yet again and is likely to be left out of the side, with Flynn Downes coming back into the side to offer a better option in possession and more legs alongside captain Declan Rice.

Further forward Spaniard Pablo Fornals has been good since coming back into the fold in the number ten role, and he should get another start here with Brazilian Lucas Paqueta likely to be rested.

Said Benhrama has been one of the best performers this season in a poor campaign and deserves to start again on the left to provide creativity and good energy.

Maxwel Cornet hasn’t featured for the Hammers since October when he picked up a calf injury, but he is back in training now and could finally be ready to get back into the side for some minutes on the right-wing, cutting in on his dangerous left foot.

Up front, Danny Ings has started the last two Premier League games and this seems like a perfect opportunity to re-introduce Gianluca Scamacca to the side too as he needs some minutes to get back up to match sharpness.
