Mohammed Kudus footage shows West Ham United have found another specialist
Mohammed Kudus showed off another string to his bow, scoring a free-kick for Ghana while on international duty, as West Ham add him to the list of quality set-piece takers.
Kudus has proved he will be alongside James Ward-Prowse on West Ham’s list of set-piece takers, with David Moyes assembling a squad full of threats from dead-ball situations.
Moyes is known to prefer his sides to be effective from set-pieces, with Ward-Prowse already showing his worth with two assists from corners – one against Chelsea and another against Luton – while Kudus may now also step up to the plate.
As well as the quality they now have both in delivery from indirect set-pieces and in striking the ball from closer range to test the goalkeeper, West Ham’s squad is stacked with aerially dominant players to provide a constant threat to the opposition.
Moyes’ focus on these situations was typified in the Hammers’ 4-3 defeat at Selhurst Park last season, where his side scored all three of their goals from set-pieces, despite showing little threat from open play. On another day, this could have won them the game.
Having players with the quality Kudus and Ward-Prowse possess will give this West Ham side a chance in any game they play, knowing that they just need one opportunity, whether it be from a free kick or a corner, and they can punish you.

The goal against the Central African Republic was just the second direct free-kick goal of Kudus’ career, as he remains some way off Ward-Prowse’s tally of 17 in the Premier League – but he looks to be adding another string to his bow in constant improvement.
