Max Kilman will be devastated as Julen Lopetegui sack decision emerges at West Ham United
Max Kilman will be devastated after learning Julen Lopetegui is “on the brink” of being sacked by West Ham United.
Fabrizio Romano reported via his Daily Briefing [3 November] that the Hammers have lost patience with Lopetegui and are ready to move for Edin Terzic as his potential successor after the 3-0 loss against Nottingham Forest.
Kilman became the first big-money acquisition of the Lopetegui era after he completed a £40m move from Wolves in the summer.
The 27-year-old has been ever-present amongst the West Ham backline throughout the season but, his guaranteed place within the starting lineup will surely become a topic of debate should Lopetegui be sent packing in East London.
Max Kilman will be sweating on his West Ham United role
Kilman has not been the best performer for the Hammers this year by any stretch of the imagination however, he has managed to retain his place in the side each week.
Lopetegui opted to start all his senior centre-backs in a five-back formation at the City Ground and the trio produced a “disgusting” display of defending, failing to deal with the in-form Chris Wood and subsequently shipped three goals.
Even in the face of a “world beater” performance from Konstantinos Mavropanos for Greece in the 2-1 win against England, Kilman remained an undroppable option for Lopetegui for reasons only he would be able to explain.
Furthermore, fellow summer signing Jean-Clair Todibo has emerged as a key member of the squad, regardless of who operates at the helm at the London Stadium, the Frenchman should be at the forefront of the long-term vision given his undeniable quality.

It will be interesting to see who the Spaniard picks in central defence in what could be his final Hammers match against Everton on Saturday [9 November], with all three centre-backs crumbling under the pressure against Nottingham Forest.
Kilman should start again as is his apparent bias under Lopetegui, but he also will have to play out of his skin at Goodison Park to ensure his West Ham future is secure no matter who leads the side.
In other West Ham news, a comparison has been drawn between David Moyes and Julen Lopetegui at the Irons.
