West Ham United sources share David Sullivan stance on possible takeover attempt

David Sullivan has no desire to sell any of his shares in West Ham United and is not expecting a change in the current ownership split, sources have told the Daily Mail.

Sullivan is the club’s largest shareholder at the London Stadium, boasting a 38.8 per cent share, with Daniel Kretinsky the second-largest shareholder with 27 per cent.

With recent takeover news at West Bromwich Albion and Everton among others, fans are unlikely to want the same for the Hammers, and it seems Sullivan is not contemplating the idea.

“Sources on Thursday added that Sullivan is not ready to part with even a fraction of his percentage, with the 75-year-old expecting no change to the current ownership split any time soon,” they wrote.

David Sullivan against West Ham United takeover at London Stadium

As mentioned already, the drama surrounding Everton and Goodison Park this season is enough to put any fans off the idea of a club takeover, especially if it includes 777 Partners.

Right now, it seems Sullivan has absolutely no plans in mind to sell any of his shares as the West Ham primary shareholder and will remain in the position ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Of course, the influx of money that takeovers bring can certainly have a positive effect on many clubs. But the constant merry-go-round for the Toffees this season will put some off for the foreseeable future.

Sullivan is extremely involved with the club, despite being 75 years of age, and shows no signs of slowing down as West Ham enter a new era of change at London Stadium.

David Moyes’ exit marks a massive change, with Julen Lopetegui set to replace him as the Hammers manager – a decision that has been greeted with a mixed reaction.

The Spaniard will hope he can have Sullivan’s backing during the summer transfer window. A few squad additions and exits have already been mooted and the new coach is likely to make quite a few changes to suit his style of football.

In other West Ham news, the wife of a Hammers player has potentially stirred up a controversy with her recent comments on social media accusing the club of bias.
