West Ham points deduction update emerges as PSR figures shown after conclusion of winter window

West Ham enjoyed a busy winter transfer window with numerous ins and outs.

Axel Disasi’s deadline day move to West Ham topped of the Hammers’ winter business in terms of new signings, with Adama Traore, Taty Castellanos and Pablo making up the other three new faces.

Meanwhile, Lucas Paqueta’s move to Flamengo was the headline departure of the window, with the Brazilian midfielder heading back to his homeland.

West Ham have been able to stay relatively safe regarding PSR in recent times, but has David Sullivan’s winter spending threatened that?

West Ham handed encouraging post-window PSR update

With West Ham in a Premier League relegation battle, many Hammers fans were urging Sullivan and Co to splash the cash at the London Stadium this winter.

That’s what he did too, spending comfortably over £70million across the signings of Traore, Castellanos and Pablo respectively.

As such, Nuno Espirito Santo can’t really say he hasn’t been backed in the market over the last few weeks, as he looks to guide the Hammers to safety in the coming months.

But, have West Ham gone for broke too dangerously, or are they still not at major risk of PSR penalties? -which do include points deductions.

Well, according to a detailed X post from West Ham Football on Tuesday, the Hammers should be in the clear.

Premier League clubs are allowed to make losses of up to £105m over a three-year period, and West Ham did post a profit of £57m two years ago.

However, they are reported to have lost £100m last year, meaning they needed another strong financial year this time around to avoid running into PSR trouble.

Thankfully, they appear to have done so, with the post revealing that West Ham should record an overall player trading profit of £28m.

Niclas Fullkrug, Guido Rodriguez, Andy Irving and Lucas Paqueta are all stated as being profit-making players for West Ham, whilst they should also break even on Luis Guilherme.

West Ham need more saleable assets soon

So, despite West Ham being set to stay in PSR’s good books for the time being, that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be feeling comfortable.

Nuno’s squad doesn’t have too many obvious saleable assets or avenues to further big paydays in it at present, with perhaps only the likes of Mateus Fernandes and Jarrod Bowen being the obvious ones, respectfully.

Therefore, the Hammers could soon find themselves in a situation where they are spending more than they’re making, and that’s not a position they can really afford to be in.
