Paul Merson and Kris Boyd make West Ham United prediction as ‘big chunk’ of money mooted at London Stadium
Paul Merson believes West Ham United will be competing near the other end of the Premier League table next season.
The Hammers have enjoyed a profitable end to the campaign and have the Conference League final to look forward to on 7 June.
Talking on Sky Sports, Merson and Kris Boyd both pondered over the Hammers’ fortunes going forward.

“They won’t go down, they won’t be going down next season. They’ve been caught up in Europe,” said Merson (Sky Sports News, 28 May).
“I would be shocked if they weren’t middle of the table next season – with or without Declan Rice.”
Boyd replied: “There will be a big chunk of money available.”
Change
Another summer of upheaval could well be on the agenda for the Hammers. Declan Rice’s exit will inevitably happen this summer and that could lead to a large sum of money being available to David Moyes. The Scot now looks certain to remain for the upcoming campaign.
It’s been an extreme show of faith by the board. There have been numerous times this season when they could have relieved Moyes of his duties at the London Stadium. During a year where managers have been sacked for fun, West Ham’s loyalty has been rewarded.

The board and Moyes will both be hoping for a more successful transfer market. Gianluca Scamacca has been a disappointing addition and, if we are being honest, Lucas Paqueta has only just managed to click into some good form in East London.
With Rice departing, another central midfielder will be required. A forward and a wide man wouldn’t go a miss for West Ham.
