Karren Brady offered million-pound bonus by West Ham United in unsuccessful investor search
West Ham United are still seeking new investment at London Stadium as Karren Brady’s hunt for a fresh investor has so far come up short, according to Sean Whetstone.
The journalist reported via his West Ham Football account on X [2 June] that vice-chairman Brady had been offered a seven-figure bonus to find a new investor, but this has not yet been achieved.
The club are undergoing a period of transition and structural changes as they look to elevate themselves to the next level on the pitch, requiring a certain scale of capital to be invested.
The post from Whetstone stated: “The hunt to find a new investor for West Ham this summer has so far failed.
“Hammers Vice Chairman Karren Brady is thought to have been offered a seven-figure bonus to find new investment but has not managed to find one despite a trip to the Middle East earlier this year.
“A number of factors are a barrier to bring in a new minority but significant shareholder but the search will go on.”
West Ham United continue investment search
Whilst it’s unclear if Brady – who is into her 15th year involved in her board role with West Ham – will still achieve the lucrative bonus on offer should the club find an investor moving forward, the club are evidently showing ambition.
Brady’s visit to the Middle East earlier this year was, as recounted by Whetstone, in an effort to secure a shareholder to purchase a minority stake from David Sullivan.
Both Daniel Kretinsky and the Gold family are also willing to sell a portion of their shares in the club, and whilst there were initially strong links at the beginning of the 2023-24 season towards an investment from Qatar, this has not yet materialised.
Whilst Qatari investment will certainly perk the ears of the West Ham fanbase – for a number of both positive and negative reasons – any further investment news in East London is dormant for the time being.
In other West Ham news, there could be a bonus package deal for the club to navigate if they are to sign Luis Guilherme.
