David Moyes gives his blessing as West Ham United on verge of appointment decision, talks held with manager

West Ham United manager David Moyes has given his blessing to the appointment of new incoming technical director Tim Steidten, according to The Guardian.

Steidten, 44, is out of work after leaving Leverkusen in March, just under four years after he joined from Weder Bremen to head the scouting department before being promoted role last July.

With Moyes confirmed to be staying on as manager next season, the Hammers are looking to aid his quest to rebuild the squad at London Stadium by hiring Steidten as technical director which is close to being sealed [Fabrizio Romano, 14 June].

And according to The Guardian [14 June], Moyes gave his blessing to Steidten’s appointment after the German made a positive impression after meetings this week.

Tough job awaits

The to-do list awaiting any new director of football in East London will be incredibly significant and ensuring the Hammers get the best out of any Rice deal this summer will be of paramount importance.

West Ham United will be undergoing a major rebuild of their own, and much of that spending will be dependent on how much they get for the England international in the end.

Replacing Rice’s midfield quality is an absolutely tough ask, and with plenty of the West Ham United faithful massively intrigued by how the squad may shape up post-Rice, the Hammers’ new recruitment chief is certainly under pressure to find ways to successfully evolve this squad and ensure that the club are back where they belong in the Premier League next season.

The Irons should only need to look at Tottenham Hotspur’s example and how they reacted to the window when they sold their own star name Gareth Bale for €100m (£85.3m) back in 2013. The Hammers simply cannot afford to have a taste of that dreadful fate themselves.

A hugely significant job awaits the potential new director of football at the London Stadium, and things could get incredibly toxic should the club kick off next season the same way they largely performed domestically last season.
