West Ham youngster Emmanuel Fejokwu decision expected as Ajax become active in pursuit

West Ham United talent Emmanuel Fejokwu is being targeted by Ajax.

The Dutch centre-back has already featured 15 times for the Hammers’ Under-18 side, and he made his debut for the Under-21s earlier this season.

The 16-year-old is no stranger to interest in his services, with the likes of AC Milan, Inter Milan, Club Brugge and Bayer Leverkusen being interested his services.

A report from Bram Bark on 14 May claims that the Amsterdam club are becoming active in the pursuit of young talents, and Fejokwu is expected to make a decision on his future shortly.

West Ham will be keen not to lose one of their most promising academy starlets.

West Ham face Emmanuel Fejokwu battle

West Ham face a battle to keep Fejokwu, which is becoming increasingly clear, given all the noise surrounding his future.

The report states that while he plays with the Under-18s in East London, he would be a part of the Under-17’s in the Dutch capital.

It claims that despite the interest in the defender, who has been capped nine times by England Under-16s, the four-time Champions League winners are optimistic about his potential arrival at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Why the situation could be complicated for West Ham

Normally, the Irons would be protected by Fejokwu’s young age, due to regulations around academy players.

However, since he holds a Dutch passport, it is a bit more complicated, and means he is eligible to move to a club abroad as he has turned 16.

The defender, who has featured mostly as a right-back in his time with the E20 outfit, is already at the centre of a tug-of-war between the England and the Netherlands at international level.

A report back in December 2025 suggested that sources close to the player believe that he would benefit from playing for a Dutch club, as it is easier to get to the senior side over there.

However, given that he is only 16 and has already featured for the Hammers’ Under-21’s, it suggests they have high hopes for him at the London Stadium, too.

It may be a complicated few months for the Rush Green side, trying to convince their talent to stick with them and outlining a plan to get him to the first-team.
