Niclas Fullkrug: West Ham flop could be handed Wolfsburg exit route as relegation clause revealed
Niclas Fullkrug looks unlikely to have a future with West Ham United, with Wolfsburg the latest side to have shown an interest.
Given the campaign he had in Germany prior to his move to the London Stadium, West Ham had high hopes that Fullkrug would be the answer to their striking woes.
To cut a long story short, he wasn’t, and the German international was instead shipped out on loan to AC Milan, where he has struggled just as much.
The Italian outfit have the option to turn his stay into a permanent one, but a lack of form makes it unlikely this summer.
Instead, Wolfsburg have shown an interest in Fullkrug, who still seems likely to move on from the Hammers.

AC Milan’s stance on Niclas Fullkrug transfer
With one goal in 16 appearances, Fullkrug has hardly had the desired impact at AC Milan, as evidenced by the fact that he has started just three times in the league.
As a result, Florian Plettenberg has reported that the Irons are convinced that they will pull out of the deal to take him to Italy on a permanent deal.

An exit route may still emerge in the form of Wolfsburg, with the Sky Sports journalist reporting that they have discussed a summer move.
They are also at risk of relegation from the top flight, which is the same scenario playing out at the London Stadium.
However, if West Ham were to lose their fight against the drop, Fullkrug is believed to have a clause in his contract that would see his wages reduced by 50 per cent.
Fullkrug future may hinge on relegation outcome
And not just for West Ham.
If Wolfsburg are to suffer the drop, it seems unlikely that they would be able to meet his demands, potentially meaning a stay at the London Stadium could be on the cards.
For the Hammers, that may not be a bad thing, depending on which division they are in.
Fullkrug would almost certainly be an asset in the Championship, but his time in the Premier League may already be over.
