Mateus Fernandes ball in Arsenal’s court as West Ham price named, eight others could go
Mateus Fernandes is primed to bankroll West Ham United this summer, with the Hammers reportedly expecting a significant summer clear-out.
The 21-year-old midfielder was one of West Ham’s standout performers in 2025-26, scoring three goals and providing four assists from 36 Premier League appearances.
Despite that, he won’t be going to this summer’s World Cup in North America, after being left out of Roberto Martinez’s Portugal team.
As a result of this, there’s now no real distractions when it comes to sorting out a transfer exit from the London Stadium, as this was always going to be on the cards if Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side were relegated.
Indeed, retaining his services beyond this summer’s transfer window was always going to be a major ask for the Irons regardless of what division they were in for 2026-27, but at least they’re set for a big payday.

What’s West Ham’s asking price for Mateus Fernandes?
West Ham have been told to stand firm on Fernandes’ price this summer, with the midfielder contracted with the Irons until the summer of 2030.
Because of that, Hammers chiefs remain in a strong position and hold all of the cards when it comes to any bartering over his valuation.

Many have been speculating just how much Fernandes might and should go for this summer, but it appears as though West Ham have made it clear exactly what they’re looking for.
As per a report from The Times, the Hammers have slapped an £80million valuation on Fernandes’ head, with Arsenal said to be interested in swooping for the exciting young star.
The report also claims that up to eight other West Ham players could be leaving the London Stadium this summer, as Nuno potentially oversees a mass exodus of his playing squad ahead of their Championship campaign.
Who might those eight other West Ham exits be?
Irons fans always knew there was going to be plenty of departures from the squad once Championship football was confirmed, and now they’ve potentially learned that nine, including Fernandes, could all go.
So, let’s take a look at who the other eight prime candidates for exits are, starting with some obvious ones like Jarrod Bowen, Crysencio Summerville and Konstantinos Mavropanos respectively.

Alphonse Areola is sure to leave, Adama Traore is out of contract as is Lukasz Fabianski, whilst defender Jean-Clair Todibo also looks nailed on to say his Irons goodbyes.
Taty Castellanos may prove difficult to keep hold of in the Championship too, and he brings that figure to eight potential exits.
Other strong candidates to leave West Ham are: Max Kilman, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and El Hadji Malick Diouf respectively.
