Lewis Beckford has agreed to extend his stay at West Ham United.

The midfielder has signed his first professional contract with his boyhood club, committing his future to the London Stadium outfit.

He has been a key figure in the Under-18s this season, with three goals and three assists in 23 appearances.

The Hammers revealed that the 18-year-old had signed fresh terms on 8 May, although the length of the deal has not been confirmed.

West Ham have moved to keep their best talents around in recent months, and having Beckford stay put is just the latest quality move.

How long is Beckford’s contract with West Ham?

The likes of Josh Landers and Josh Ajala have committed their futures to West Ham recently, so it is encouraging that another top talent is set to stay.

The extent of Beckford’s contract extension is unknown, but there is a maximum term of five years, per FIFA regulations, as he is already 18.

The logical move would have been to give him a five-year deal so that he has the best possible chance to make it into the senior set-up.

Who is West Ham talent Beckford?

Beckford has been with the Hammers since the age of nine, progressing through the ranks at Rush Green.

He signed Scholarship terms with the Irons before the 2024-25 season, and he has gone from strength to strength since then.

He is a technical midfielder, with his standout attributes being his control in close quarters and his balance on the ball, which could suit Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side very well.

He made his debut for the Under-21s earlier this season, in a 1-0 win over RSC Anderlecht in the Premier League International Cup, but is yet to feature again for Greg Lincoln’s side.

What did he say about the new deal?

Beckford revealed his excitement at signing a new deal with the E20 outfit, and confirmed that it is his dream to make his debut for the Claret and Blue side.

Speaking via the club’s official website, he said: “I feel like I’ve worked really hard to get here, signing a professional contract means everything to me.

“Over the next few years, it’s a big opportunity for me to kick on.

“Every young player dreams of breaking into the first team and being able to train there regularly, making my debut one day for my boyhood club would be a dream come true.”

The Hammers need more players like that, who know the ‘West Ham way’ and will do anything for the shirt on their back, and Beckford seems to be of that ilk.
