Callum Wilson effectively announces his West Ham exit with emotional message
Callum Wilson appears to be on his way out of West Ham United.
The Englishman only joined the Hammers in the summer after departing Newcastle United at the end of a five-year spell at St James’ Park.
His free transfer to the London Stadium wasn’t met with many positive reviews due to his age and the E20 hierarchy’s lack of ambition.
The 34-year-old did go on to chip in with many important goals, including a late winner away to Tottenham in January.
Wilson now looks set to depart West Ham as he speaks out for the first time since relegation was confirmed in East London.

Callum Wilson pens emotional social media message
Despite his signing not being an immediate fan favourite, he has gone on to score a fair number of goals in claret and blue.
The former Bournemouth man has done his utmost despite his minutes being limited, especially after the introduction of Taty Castellanos and Pablo.

It had looked as if his contract would be torn up after the introduction of that January duo, but it never came to pass.
That then made way for talks of a potential new deal to keep him at the London Stadium, but after reports of an agreement, nothing was ever confirmed.
It now appears that his time in claret and blue is over after he took to Instagram on Wednesday to seemingly wave goodbye to supporters.
He said: “It hurts. We have failed as a team and definitely fallen short of everyone’s expectations. It was well documented that I had a history with West Ham, yet from the moment I arrived, I felt nothing but welcomed by all the fans here.
“I felt really good and positive coming into this season, and I believe I could have contributed more given the opportunity. As you could see, my time on the pitch was very limited at times, but that was out of my control. I’ve always trained hard, kept my integrity, and given my all whenever I’ve been allowed to wear the iconic Claret and Blue shirt.
“I’m sad and extremely disappointed that it has ended this way. This club deserves so much better because there are so many unbelievable people behind the scenes that you fans don’t always get to see.
“For now, all I can say is thank you. Thank you to everyone who supported us. Your passion is amazing, and I truly hope you return to the Premier League, where you belong, as soon as possible. Callum.”
The last part of his message certainly points towards Wilson’s imminent departure from West Ham, although that is yet to be confirmed.
Wilson seemingly confirms West Ham departure
After scoring seven goals in the Premier League, the English could have made for an excellent option moving down into the Championship.
With reports earlier in the year pointing towards a contract extension, it felt as if the striker could guide the Irons forward in the second tier.
Those conversations have now been dashed with the phrasing of his social media message.
Saying, “Your passion is amazing, and I truly hope you return to the Premier League, where you belong, as soon as possible.”

That suggests that he won’t be playing a role in hopefully securing promotion next season, even if no exit has been officially revealed by the Irons.
That may not come until June, with contracts typically expiring before the transfer window begins on 1 July.
