Nuno’s treatment of Callum Wilson could come at a cost for West Ham

Nuno Espirito Santo has snubbed Callum Wilson at West Ham United when it mattered the most.

The Hammers are staring down the barrel of relegation, and will no doubt have a keen eye on proceedings in North London on Monday night.

Tottenham host Leeds, and if the Lilywhites were to take all three points, the Irons would be banking on them not winning another game to have any chance of staying in the Premier League.

However, with relegation fears strong, the Irons will already have plans in place for all eventualities, with decisions to be made on the future of several players.

Wilson could yet leave West Ham this summer, and Nuno will likely be the one to blame.

Callum Wilson could turn back on West Ham

It was reported earlier this year that Wilson had agreed a one-year extension with West Ham, though that deal was never officially confirmed.

On that basis, it is fair to assume that the former Newcastle and Bournemouth star would be headed for the exit in the summer.

However, given his record in front of goal, he would be the perfect striker to have in the Championship if West Ham were to suffer relegation.

In fact, it would be fair to predict that Wilson would be a cheat code in the Championship, and one that the Hammers could be set to miss out on the opportunity to utilise because of his recent omission.

The 34-year-old’s last start for West Ham was at the start of March, having only played more than 25 minutes on one occasion since then.

West Ham set for familiar scenario this summer

It feels like West Ham have spent every transfer window on the hunt for a new striker, and that is unlikely to be any different this summer.

Relegation would almost certainly see Taty Castellanos head out the door, as well as Niclas Fullkrug once he returns from his loan at Milan.

If that is to be the case, the Hammers need to get recruitment spot on, or else this will repeat itself for years to come.
