Scott Parker: How West Ham could line up as Nuno Espirito Santo replacement mooted

Scott Parker could find himself in line to become the next West Ham United manager.

The threat of relegation is growing at the London Stadium after there looked to be light at the end of the tunnel very recently.

Nuno Espirito Santo hasn’t been helped by Tottenham picking up four points from their last two Premier League games.

That has opened the gap to two points and leaves the Irons in a precarious position with just two games to go this season.

Unsurprisingly, the Portuguese head coach’s future is already being questioned, with Scott Parker emerging as a dream replacement.

James Corden tells talkSPORT he wants Scott Parker at West Ham

The East London faithful don’t want the ex-Wolves boss to leave, but it feels like he will depart if relegation is secured.

He has faced success in the Premier League and may not see his future with the claret and blue outfit in the Championship.

That has opened up discussion as to who could replace the 52-year-old if he is to depart his role at the London Stadium.

West Ham fan James Corden has discussed exactly that on talkSPORT, with Parker named as his preferred option at this stage.

He said: “I think Nuno is brilliant, I hope he stays, I doubt he will, but I would love it. If he doesn’t, it should be Scott Parker, no question.”

Cordon’s opinion on Parker’s West Ham return is widely shared, leaving us to ponder how the Irons would line up under his leadership.

How West Ham could line up under Parker

It is hard to know exactly what the Hammers will look like next season, but let’s imagine how they could line up with their current crop of players.

Parker certainly got the best out of Burnley in the Championship using a 4-3-3 formation, something which he could recreate at the London Stadium.

He appreciates players who can play with the ball at their feet in his backline, something that could see Max Kilman benefit, especially with the futures of Konstantinos Mavropnaos and Axel Disasi up in the air.

Attack-minded wing-backs are also used at Turf Moor, with the closest options being Malick Diouf and Kyle Walker-Peters in E20.

Midfield is a big part of Parker’s teams, with one defensive-minded option sitting behind a box-to-box and a more attacking option.

Songoutou Magassa may be the deepest option, while Mateus Fernandes could be the perfect box-to-box alongside a more free role for Tomas Soucek.

With that all sorted, the front line almost chooses itself with Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen on the flanks.

While the number nine feels suited to Pablo due to his versatility to drop deeper when needed to link with midfield, something which he could thrive at.

This would all obviously change with the transfer window pending, but for now, it looks like a side that could suit Parker well.
