West Ham relegation chances shift in supercomputer prediction after Arsenal loss

West Ham United look more likely than ever for Premier League relegation following their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

The Hammers were left heartbroken after an on-field and VAR check determined that Callum Wilson’s stoppage-time equaliser was deemed to have had a foul on goalkeeper David Raya in the build-up.

A first defeat at the London Stadium in six games means that the Irons stay rooted to 18th place, occupying the final Premier League relegation spot.

Tottenham are now West Ham’s only competition to stay in the top-flight, but the loss also means that Spurs now face a mathematically safe Leeds United on Monday, which could change things.

West Ham look heavy favourites for relegation ahead of Tottenham’s crucial match this week, as Opta’s latest predictions are in.

West Ham now have over 85% chance of relegation

It wasn’t long ago that Tottenham were favourites to get relegated in 18th position, but a recent resurgence under Roberto De Zerbi has lifted the Lilywhites.

They are heading into the match against Leeds knowing that a win would put them four points clear of the Hammers with two games remaining.

This could drastically change after Spurs’ game against Leeds, as a win for the former would most likely spell the end of West Ham’s chances for survival.

Leeds will not roll over for Tottenham; here’s why

Many West Ham fans will be worried that Leeds will just roll over for Tottenham now that their Premier League status has been confirmed.

However, that could not be further from the truth, as Daniel Farke knows that he needs to leave a good impression on the Leeds board, regardless of securing survival.

The Leeds boss was almost sacked in the summer, despite getting the Whites promoted, and there’s no reason why their board can’t make a change if they see poor signs in the last three games.

Farke will keep his team motivated the best he can, and Tottenham’s home record is still the reason they are in with a chance of relegation.

There’s still hope for Nuno Espirito Santo‘s men.
