Konstantinos Mavropanos let down, Crysencio Summerville disappointing – West Ham player ratings vs Arsenal
West Ham United fell to a crushing and dramatic 1-0 defeat against league leaders Arsenal, and it may be the end of their hopes for Premier League survival.
The Hammers hosted the Gunners at the London Stadium this Sunday in what was a Premier League encounter of significant importance.
Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side had moments in the first half, particularly when Taty Castellanos forced David Raya into a full-stretch save with a bullet header before the break.
Leandro Trossard sank the Hammers with his late effort, before Callum Wilson’s equaliser was controversially ruled out by VAR and an on-field review in stoppage time.
West Ham’s relegation chances have been increased with the loss, as attention turns to Tottenham, who play the now mathematically safe Leeds United on Monday.

Konstantinos Mavropanos was simply sublime vs Arsenal
Konstantinos Mavropanos has been quality for West Ham in recent weeks, and he was on top form against the Gunners this time around.
The centre-back has been linked with a move away from the London Stadium, with Borussia Dortmund and other clubs said to be interested.
| Area of game | Stats |
| Defensive contributions | 13 |
| Pass accuracy | 13/18 |
| Dribble success | 100% |
| Cleared off the line | 2 |
| Aerial duels (won) | 6 (5) |
The former Arsenal man completed 100 per cent of his dribbles and had an 83 per cent win rate in the air.
But, he also contributed with two goal-line clearances that kept his side in the contest right up until the very end.
Mavropanos was truly let down by his teammates against the Gunners, and this is why he’s seeking an E20 exit this summer.
Crysencio Summerville had an off day
Crysencio Summerville has been brilliant for the Irons in the second half of the season, but wasn’t at the races against the Gunners.
The Dutchman was trying the right things all game, and was doing his best to be positive, but everything he was trying wasn’t seeming to come off.
Summerville in PL this year:
- Games: 28
- Goals: 5
- Assists: 1
The 24-year-old had just 31 touches, didn’t create a single chance, and his only shot was off target, while he was also dispossessed on three occasions.
Nuno will most likely be disappointed with his winger’s performance, as he was let down when he needed his star player most.
