Alan Shearer makes new West Ham relegation prediction, Micah Richards finds what’s happening ‘mad’
Alan Shearer has predicted West Ham United will only claim a further three Premier League points before the end of the season.
West Ham couldn’t have asked for a much worse weekend in the Premier League.
Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat away at Brentford, bringing to an end their three-game unbeaten run.
Meanwhile, they’ve now also been leapfrogged by Tottenham after their win over Aston Villa on Sunday, leaving the Hammers now trailing Spurs by one point.
Things aren’t getting any easier either, as West Ham take on Arsenal at the London Stadium this Sunday, and we’re now at the stage where as tough as that task is, points are a must against the Gunners.

What have Alan Shearer & Micah Richards said about West Ham?
West Ham are now predicted to be relegated following that aforementioned Tottenham win, with Roberto De Zerbi evidently getting a tune out of that Spurs group.
The Brentford loss was a frustrating result for the Hammers, and not because they were beaten as the Bees are a good side, but more because they actually played quite well for large parts in the match.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast following the weekend’s results across the Premier League, Shearer and Richards have both been discussing West Ham’s current predicament.
“It’s a tough weekend for West Ham after being beaten quite convincingly, and then having to sit through that Tottenham game and watch how good Tottenham were,” said Shearer.
“I think with West Ham with their games coming up, the next two are Arsenal at home and Newcastle away and then finish with Leeds at home, I think there’s probably three points there for West Ham out of the next three games.
“It’s been a terrible weekend for West Ham,” Shearer concluded, before the panel then discussed the prospect of 40 points potentially not being enough to stay up this season.

On that point, Richards said: “It’s mad, isn’t it?
“West Ham picked up their form hadn’t they? And then you get a bad result.”
Tottenham’s run-in should keep West Ham hope alive
As bad a weekend it may well have been for West Ham, the Premier League relegation battle is far from over yet despite time now being against the team sitting in 18th, which is currently occupied by the Irons.
Tottenham host Leeds in N17 next Monday, which isn’t an easy game at all considering Daniel Farke’s side are playing well, and know that a win against Spurs would guarantee them mathematical safety.
Spurs then have to go to Chelsea before finishing the season at home to European-chasing Everton, so points could well be at a premium for the Lilywhites in the final three games despite their upturn in form.
West Ham no longer have safety in their own hands, but Tottenham are going to be tested in these final weeks, and the Hammers must be ready to pounce on any dropped Lilywhites points.
