Yunus Musah to West Ham 'a sure thing' as Ruben Amorim astonishes at AC Milan

West Ham United were perhaps more intent on signing Yunus Musah from AC Milan in the summer than previously thought.

The 23-year-old's name was mentioned as a target for the Hammers in the summer transfer window.

That was despite relegation from the Premier League, which means the Irons were effectively shopping in a different market.

It was expected Musah would be moving on from San Siro prior to the 2026-27 campaign, but instead he remained.

That has proved a wise decision from Milan head coach Ruben Amorim.

And new details have now emerged on West Ham's interest in the United States international over the summer.

West Ham's interest in Musah cooled around the time he was picked as part of Amorim's pre-season squad.

That suggested at the time he was not on the verge of leaving, as had been reported in the weeks and months leading up to that point.

In a new update via Milan Vibes on Wednesday, it is reported West Ham's interest went as far as making an approach to the Rossoneri.

A move away at that point is described as "a sure thing" for the midfielder.

The Hammers, as well as Turkish side Trabzonspor, both enquired about more than information, it is claimed.

However, Amorim "astonished" fans with his decision to keep Musah as part of the group and that has paid dividends.

How has Musah performed since West Ham links?

Musah has gone from seemingly out of the picture to being a key player for Serie A heavyweights Milan.

He has played six times and, while he does not have any goals or assists to his name, the same report hails his "excellent" start to the campaign.

Musah's energy levels are said to have moved up a notch and so the decision not to sell was a smart one.

While West Ham's interest may have extended to them making an enquiry to Milan, signing the 23-year-old never truly seemed to be on the cards.
