Youssef En-Nesyri auction starts as West Ham United want transfer now

West Ham want to sign forward Youssef En-Nesyri this summer as an auction begins for the Sevilla striker, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Spanish publication reported in their print edition (3 July, page 26) that with Sevilla needing to sell the Irons are one of several clubs expected to table a bid for the striker over the course of the summer.

As well as the Hammers, fellow Premier League side Tottenham are also keen on En-Nesyri, with AC Milan, Roma, Fenerbahce and Saudi Pro League clubs all expressing their interests in the 27-year-old.

En-Nesyri won the 2020 Europa League title playing under current Irons manager Julen Lopetegui, and the Spaniard will hope that helps to seal a deal to bring the Morocco striker to the London Stadium [El Mira, 25 May].

West Ham hoping to avoid auction for Youssef En-Nesyri transfer

If there’s one area of the pitch that needs reinforcing at the London Stadium it’s centre-forward, with Lopetegui having just Michail Antonio, Danny Ings and youngster Callum Marshall at his disposal.

As Marshall returns from a disappointing loan spell at West Brom, Ings could be heading out of the door to another side who played in the Championship last season – his promoted former club Southampton [Daily Mail, 18 June].

At 34, Antonio can’t be relied on to play up front for a full season either, thus the Hammers’ chase of En-Nesyri – and several other attacking targets – is hardly a surprise as Lopetegui shapes his maiden squad [O Jogo, 8 June].

He managed 16 league goals in 33 matches and 20 in 41 overall, which is certainly a respectable tally to be bringing to a Premier League side looking to return to Europe, suggesting En-Nesyri could be the Irons’ best option.

En-Nesyri is a name which just won’t go away as the transfer window rumbles on in East London, and with Sevilla looking to cash in, the Hammers must be first to the party if they’re to avoid a bidding war [VamosMiSevilla, 28 May].
