Why West Ham fans will love club's Josh Landers video after deadline-busting deal

West Ham United youngster Josh Landers has sealed a move away from the London Stadium.

The 19-year-old striker has been starring in the Academy of Football since arriving from Hibernian last year.

A Scottish youth international, he netted seven times in 17 Premier League 2 games for the Under-21s last season.

Prior to Thursday, Landers had already scored five goals in three U21's outings for West Ham, with four coming against Chelsea on Monday.

Clearly a very highly-rated young forward, he's been linked with a loan move away from E20 this summer as he's yet to win a first-team role under Nuno Espirito Santo.

English clubs were able to complete transfer business up until 11pm on Tuesday.

However, for teams up in Scotland, they've had until 5pm on Thursday to get deals done.

Innerleithen-born, if Landers was going to leave on loan this summer, a move back to Scottish football always felt likely.

That's exactly what's transpired too, as Scottish Championship side Ayr United have signed him on a season-long loan from West Ham.

Teasing his signing on Instagram, Ayr had Landers poses for a number of pictures and videos around their Somerset Park stadium.

However, in a clear nod to West Ham, Landers is seen holding two hammers in the crossed pattern as seen on the club crest.

That's no doubt won over many Irons fans over this move, but what has Landers said about the move?

Like any striker, Landers will be judged throughout his career on his ability to put the ball in the net first and foremost.

However, with a strong record of doing so in West Ham's academy so far, he certainly looks poised for a bright future ahead.

Ayr only scored 38 goals in 36 Scottish Championship games last season, so the pressure will be on Landers to help them improve upon that this term.

Speaking via Ayr's X account on Thursday, Landers isn't shying away from that responsibility.

“I want to play as many minutes as I can and score as many goals as I can," the Hammers youngster said.

Ayr's next game is on Saturday when they travel to Partick Thistle, offering Landers his first chance to get off the mark for this loan spell.
