Why Nuno Espirito Santo would inevitably cause Manor Solomon 'anger' at West Ham
West Ham United would be getting a fiery character in Manor Solomon.
The 27-year-old has emerged in West Ham transfer discussions of late, as he looks set to leave Tottenham this summer.
He signed with Spurs on a free transfer in the summer of 2023, but despite being unable to win a first-team role in N17, numerous impressive loan spells has served to inflate his transfer value.
Solomon, an Israeli international, enjoyed the best season of his career to date in 2024-25 during a season-long loan stint with Leeds United.
The Whites won the second-tier title that year, earning automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Solomon played a huge part in that achievement, scoring 10 goals and providing 13 assists in 41 total appearances, but there was one thing he really didn't like Daniel Farke doing.
Why Daniel Farke 'liked' Manor Solomon's attitude at Leeds
If there's one thing any player, particularly a star one, doesn't like to see happen to them is their number being held aloft by the fourth official.
However, as West Ham will come to learn once again in 2026-27, the Championship is a ruthless and relentless league, with sides commonly playing three matches in the same week.
It doesn't matter how fit a player is, very few are able to play 90 minutes each week, every week in England's second division, and Solomon was no different.
However, after being replaced in a March 2025 game between Leeds and QPR, he didn't leave the pitch quietly when seeing his number in red, throwing his arms around and even taking his anger out on the corner flag.
Speaking via the Yorkshire Evening Post post-match, Leeds boss Farke actually revealed that he didn't mind what he saw from Solomon, and revealed that this wasn't particularly out of character from him.
"Manor is always unhappy when he's not playing," said Farke. "I don't think he can complain about the game time, started three times in six days.
"They all want to start. You just have players happy if they play each and every second. He wants to be on it, doesn't want to be rested, I quite like this attitude. Five minutes after the game everyone has calmed down and is ready to go again."
Naturally then, Nuno Espirito Santo is bound to be in Solomon's bad books at some point throughout the season if he signs for West Ham, but it also clearly wasn't an issue that impacted his desire to play for Farke.
But what is Solomon's contract situation at Tottenham, and does it work in the Hammers' favour when trying to negotiate a deal?
Why Tottenham can hold out for premium Solomon fee
Proven Championship stars, especially forward players, don't often come cheap for second-tier sides looking to purchase them.
That can be the case if a player has minimal time remaining on his contract though, and thus his parent side feel pressure to cash in before his value plummets, or potentially even leaves on a free.
Spurs are in a difficult situation with Solomon, as he's contracted with the Lilywhites until the summer of 2028.
As a result, there isn't a major pressing need to sell him this summer, but they'll also be aware that his stock could have fallen significantly by this time next year if they keep him/loan him out, and he endures a quiet campaign.
So, whilst he may not be available at a discount price, West Ham chiefs should be confident that with a bit of shrewd negotiation tactics, they could land his signature for a very reasonable fee this summer.
