West Ham can book promotion parade early as Manor Solomon sends message amid speculation

West Ham United would know exactly what they're getting with Manor Solomon.

The hunt for Crysencio Summerville's successor is on for West Ham, that will be far easier said than done.

Summerville enjoyed an excellent 2025-26 season with the Hammers, and no doubt would've tore up the Championship once again had he stayed at the London Stadium this summer.

In Solomon, however, West Ham would be going a very long way to replacing the Dutchman, as he's also got some superb second-tier pedigree on his CV.

The 27-year-old winger is currently contracted to Tottenham, but doesn't appear to feature in Roberto De Zerbi's long-term plans.

So, with a transfer looking increasingly likely for him this summer, the Irons should be in the fire in E20 to secure his services.

How good was Manor Solomon in the Championship with Leeds?

West Ham Zone has been following reports that West Ham are interested in signing Solomon, who is understood to have informed Tottenham of his desire to leave N17.

The 49-cap Israeli international has returned to the Lilywhites following loan spells with Villarreal and Fiorentina last season.

Whether or not he's good enough to play in the Premier League is a question that hasn't really been answered yet, but what isn't up for debate is how much of a star player he is in the Championship.

He played 39 league games on the way to helping Leeds win the Championship in 2024-25, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists.

As per FotMob, no Championship player in his position bettered his 37 possessions won in the final third, his 10.3 expected assists or his 21 big chances created that year.

Meanwhile, he also ranked in the top 2.5 percentile of his positional rivals for successful passes (88.3 per cent) and successful dribbles (70).

On top of that, he also placed in the top 3.7 per cent for his successful crosses (48) and duels won (54.6 per cent).

Solomon was among the very top-performing players in his position for chances created (67), shots on target (25), touches in the opposition box (151) and recoveries (130) as well.

But if he's going to be Summerville's replacement, how do those numbers stack up against the ex-West Ham winger from his 2023-24 Championship campaign with Leeds?

Summerville's numbers reaffirm notion that Solomon is West Ham's best chance

Joining Leeds in 2021 when they were a Premier League club, Summerville didn't instantly hit the ground running at Elland Road.

Indeed, he didn't flourish until the 2023-24 campaign in which the Whites were plying their trade in the Championship.

Summerville came to life that season, scoring 20 goals and chipping in with nine assists and was also named the Championship's Player of the Year that term.

But as evidenced by his underlying numbers, Solomon's own production can largely go toe-to-toe with the Dutchman's.

Summerville won 27 possessions in the final third compared to Solomon's 37, recorded a slightly worse passing success rate at 84.1 per cent and won less duels with 52 per cent.

He was also slightly behind with his 17 big chances created, but he did better Solomon with 147 recoveries, 283 touches in the opposition box and 98 successful dribbles.

The now-Al Hilal winger was also better in shots on target (51), chances created (112) and successful crosses (64).

Overall then, bringing in a player as good as Summerville in the Championship is pretty much impossible for West Ham this summer, but in Solomon, they probably aren't likely to get anyone closer to him.
