Who Nils Koppen wants to sign for West Ham revealed as two names mentioned upon arrival
West Ham United have announced the arrival of Nils Koppen as their new director of player recruitment.
The 41-year-old Belgian moves to the London Stadium having previously worked in similar roles at FC Kobenhavn, Rangers and PSV Eindhoven.
Koppen revealed that he's looking forward to working alongside Nuno Espirito Santo as they aim to get the Hammers out of the Championship and back into the first time of asking.
However, West Ham's recruitment has so far been slow and Koppen has an almighty job on his hands to deal with a number of exiting stars and out-of-form players.
Koppen does, however, already seem to have some irons in the fire ahead of getting to work in East London.
With his first task being to recruit players good enough to get West Ham back into the Premier League, two names have already been reported to be on his radar.
The latest on West Ham's hunt to sign Dwight McNeil
With Koppen now in place at the London Stadium, West Ham are still reportedly interested in signing Dwight McNeil from Everton this summer.
The Daily Mail reported on Saturday, in the wake of Koppen's arrival, that the 26-year-old remains a target.
McNeil started just 14 Premier League matches last season for the Toffees, with ex-United boss David Moyes clearly not sold on the idea of him being a key player at Hill Dickinson.
A deal for West Ham looks possible, especially as McNeil has extensive Premier League experience and could replace an exit-linked Hammers star like Jarrod Bowen or Crysencio Summerville.
Martin Adeline is also on West Ham's shortlist
Troyes midfielder Martin Adeline could also be one of Koppen's first two signings, according to the Mail.
Adeline, 22, is an attacking midfielder who scored 11 goals and supplied 13 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
His goalscoring ability and playmaking skills fired Troyes to the Ligue 2 title, securing their return to the top-flight of French football after a two-year absence.
With the numbers he got last season, plus the experience of leading a promotion charge, he could be the kind of player that Koppen will want straight in at West Ham, potentially for a low fee, too.
On transfermarkt, Adeline is valued at £8.5m - just 10 per cent what the capital club has recieved in Mateus Fernandes' move to Tottenham.
