Who Jean-Clair Todibo could now leave West Ham for as fresh exit path opens up
West Ham United could finally be set to lose Jean-Clair Todibo this summer.
The 26-year-old central defender made the move to West Ham initially on a loan deal in the summer of 2024, before turning his stay into a permanent one ahead of last season.
Unfortunately, he's not quite been able to play his best football with the Irons, starting only 22 times in the Premier League in 2025-26 and having made just 25 total appearances in all competitions last term.
As a result, it always felt likely that regardless of whether West Ham were relegated or not, that the Frenchman would be departing the London Stadium this summer.
But after a fairly quiet window so far in terms of noise being generated around his potential exit, that has now changed.
Jean-Clair Todibo emerges on transfer radar of Serie A giant
West Ham Zone has covered reports claiming that Todibo is keen to leave West Ham this summer, with French side Marseille mooted as one potential suitor.
Aside from that, things have been relatively quiet on the Todibo exit front, with sides perhaps put off by his two underwhelming seasons in E20.
However, according to a fresh report from leading Italian transfer reporter Gianluca Di Marzio on Tuesday evening, reporting via his own website, Napoli are now considering Todibo as a possible transfer option.
Di Marzio details that Todibo has attracted attention from Italian clubs in the past, and that in recent hours, his name has been on Napoli's lips.
Numerous other options, such as Federico Gatti, Benoit Badiashile and Tiago Gabriel are explicitly named alongside Todibo as possible targets for the Naples-based outfit.
So, there's no doubting this would be a huge move for Todibo to go from the Championship to one of Serie A's best teams, but do his numbers from last season warrant it?
Why evidence for Napoli transfer is missing in Todibo's numbers
Napoli may well view Todibo as a cheap and experienced option, and one who has plenty of experience playing at a high level for high-profile clubs as aforementioned.
However, they wouldn't be signing the Todibo of the past, as any team can only ever sign the current version of any given player.
And that version of Todibo from West Ham last season doesn't scream top Serie A move, respectfully.
Per FotMob, Todibo ranked in the bottom 12.2 percentile of all Premier League centre-backs in 2025-26 for his 3.42 duels won per 90 minutes, whilst he also placed in the bottom 33.3 per cent for his 8.22 defensive contributions per game.
On top of that, he ranked in the lowest 17.8 per cent for his 1.83 goals conceded per game average whilst on the pitch, as well as the bottom 31.1 per cent for his 0.64 blocked shots and 0.84 interceptions per game too.
Todibo's 50 per cent aerial duels won placed him in the bottom 14.4 per cent, and his 51.2 touches per game average ranked in the lowest 8.9 percentile.
So, there will no doubt be plenty of West Ham fans urging Napoli to firm up their reported transfer interest in Todibo, as those funds could be redistributed to sign considerably more impactful players in his position.
