Niclas Fullkrug has been impressing during his loan spell away from West Ham United.

The Germany striker endured a disappointing spell with AC Milan for the second half of last season.

However, he has looked completely rejuvunated since returning to the Bundesliga on loan with Werder Bremen in the summer transfer window.

Indeed, Fullkrug secured a personal record at the weekend by scoring in a fourth consecutive Bundesliga game, helping his side earn a 2-2 draw with former club Borussia Dortmund.

It means he now has five goals in six games across all competitions this term, form that has led to suggestions of a Germany recall.

And a new report has provided an update on where Bremen and Fullkrug stand on a full transfer at the end of the season.

What's the latest with Niclas Fullkrug and a full West Ham exit?

Fullkrug just never got going in a West Ham shirt, and managed just three goals in 26 outings after arriving in the summer of 2024.

It was little surprise when he was shipped out on loan to Milan this winter, but he struggled to make an impact in Italy.

However, the 33-year-old is loving life back in Germany, and Jurgen Klopp has him on his radar for the national team.

A permanent move to Bremen is complicated by the fact that there was no option included in his loan move, as the teams could not agree upon one.

German publication DeichStube reports that there have been no talks held between Bremen and West Ham over a permanent deal as things stand.

However, they add that Bremen and Fullkrug are open to a "longer-term collaboration" given how well he is doing during his loan spell.

West Ham need to make Fullkrug exit happen

West Ham forked out a reported £27million to sign Fullkrug, whose contract at the London Stadium runs until the summer of 2028.

He was a major disappointment in a Hammers shirt, and they were stuck with a player on big wages not producing on the pitch.

Now, you can understand the dilemma, because West Ham paid out big money and have got very little return.

But, at the age of 33, the chance to get any meaningful back on their original purchase is pretty slim.

What West Ham don't want is to end up in a situation where they have an aging player sat doing nothing and on big wages.

Essentially, they need to find a compromise whereby he departs on a full transfer, and if Bremen are ready to do business then West Ham need to be receptive to it.
