Michail Antonio could reunite with West Ham United within the next couple of weeks.

The Jamaica international departed the London Stadium a little over a year ago when his contract expired.

Antonio's final game for West Ham came in December 2024, prior to sustaining an horrific leg injury in a high-speed car crash.

The circumstances surrounding Antonio's exit were contentious, but he remains the Hammers' record Premier League scorer with 68 goals.

And it may well be that the 36-year-old is playing in the same division as West Ham this coming campaign.

That is amid an update coming out of Watford.

Michail Antonio latest as forward trains with Watford

Antonio recently hit out at West Ham chiefs over the manner of his exit.

He felt he had done enough for the Irons to be offered a new deal while he fully recovered from his long-term layoff.

Football is a brutal sport, though, and West Ham will feel justified in their decision.

Now, 14 months on from officially departing East London, Antonio could become a Watford player soon.

As per the Watford Observer, Antonio is training with the Hornets with the possibility of being awarded a contract.

Watford are eager to bring in a new centre-forward and Antonio remains available on a free transfer.

The former Sheffield Wednesday ace has also previously spent time training with Leicester City, but he was not offered a deal.

When do West Ham face Watford?

West Ham's relegation from the Premier League means they are now in the same division as Watford.

And the two sides do not have to wait long to face off, as they are scheduled to meet at Vicarage Road on 29 August.

The reverse fixture will take place at the London Stadium on 17 April, with that another chance for supporters to share the love with Antonio.

That is if he does officially put pen to paper at Watford, which all depends on his fitness levels after a long time out of the game.

Some may wonder whether Antonio could play a squad role for West Ham now they are in the second tier, but it is fair to say that ship has sailed.
