However, West Ham finally got the ball rolling in terms of incomings as Joel Veltman joined on a free transfer.

And they may be about to bring in attacking reinforcement in the form of Tottenham wide man Solomon.

Earlier this week, West Ham had seemingly hit a wall in their pursuit of Tottenham's Solomon.

It was reported that the Hammers had hit a snag financially in terms of the bonuses Spurs wanted, with West Ham eyeing a £5million fee.

However, it looks as though a move for the 27-year-old may be progressing after all following a new update from prominent Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Romano posted on X to report that West Ham are advancing to the final stages of a deal for Solomon.

He wrote that agreement is close with both Tottenham and the player's representatives to bring him to the London Stadium.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be keen to get this one over the line quickly for obvious reasons.

Time is of the essence in West Ham's Solomon pursuit

Solomon has never really established himself at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He has featured under Roberto De Zerbi during pre-season, but Spurs are keen for upgrades in the wide areas.

The Israel international spent the second half of last season on loan at Fiorentina, who had been linked with a permanent deal.

Solomon scored 10 goals in 39 Championship appearances in Leeds United's title-winning 2024/25 side, so West Ham know he has the pedigree in this league.

But time is of the essence now, with Nuno desperate for reinforcement ahead of their Championship opener at Burnley on 16 August.

Nuno will have to go with what he has for the EFL Cup clash against Portsmouth on Saturday, but hopefully some bodies can be added before league action gets underway.
