What West Ham have told AC Milan as Jean-Clair Todibo offer now tabled

Jean-Clair Todibo's future away from West Ham appears to be in the Serie A with AC Milan and Napoli circling.

The defender wants out of E20 following widespread reports of a rift with manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Todibo reportedly told the Portuguese boss that he would never play for him again, effectively burning his bridges at London Stadium.

Todibo is not short of suitors, though, with both the two aforementioned Italian sides among those looking to secure a deal.

And despite Todibo's insistence on leaving the Irons, West Ham are holding a staunch position over what they want for the Frenchman.

That exact stance has now come out via Italy.

West Ham Zone has previously reported on the fact that the feeling in Italy was that Todibo was valued at around £14.9m.

However, fresh reports have since emerged that have put an exact figure on West Ham's demands for the 26-year-old.

And that appears to be higher than previously shared in Italy.

According to journalist Gianluca Vitale, who writes for Area Napoli, a publication which has stood since 2008, AC Milan have an offer on the table for Todibo.

It has been said by the reporter that West Ham would allow Todibo to leave on loan, with a loan fee of €5million (£4.3million) mooted.

However, the Irons want to include a conditional obligation to buy for €24m (£20.5m), which would go into effect should Todibo make 10 appearances.

That would hand the Irons a total fee of £24.8m.

As things stand, it is not known what the Milan-based club have offered for the French defender, but the Irons will certainly be hoping to avoid making a loss on Todibo.

And the structure of their demands could be a smart way in getting around that.

Would West Ham take a loss on Todibo under those terms?

West Ham's want for a loan move followed by an obligation makes plenty of sense from a book value point of view.

As things stand, Todibo is currently just one year into a five-year contract at West Ham, with his transfer of £32.8m amortising by near £6.6m each year.

Right now, Todibo's value on the books would be stood at around £26.2m, which would not be covered by the transfer fee they are looking for.

But with a loan, Todibo would technically still be a West Ham player, and that would allow another year for amortisation.

So, if that deal does go through, Todibo's value on the books, would be £19.9m, meaning the entire £24.8m package presented would provide the Hammers with a profit.
