West Ham want Bobby Clark transfer as 'reasonable price' expected
West Ham could look to Bobby Clark in the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with Derby County from Red Bull Salzburg.
The Hammers are understood to want new options in midfield ahead of the Championship campaign.
The former Liverpool youth product could be available having failed to make the grade in Austria.
There is still plenty of time for him to hit his potential and the London Stadium may be the perfect place for him to revive his career.
It could be a brilliant match, if Nuno Espirito Santo decides he is the right man for the job to help the promotion bid.
West Ham could take advantage of reasonable Bobby Clark price
The Irons have identified Clark as a potential option, and could look to sign him.
A report from ExWHUEmployee, via the West Ham Way, on 8 June claimed that the Salzburg man is available for a "reasonable price."
He stated that it could be an interesting option for the E20 side in the market.
Ex said: “An interesting option who also had a loan spell and has returned to his parent club now, is Bobby Clark, who was at loan at Derby County last year.
"He is 21 and homegrown but currently plays for Red Bull Salzburg. He is the son of former Newcastle and Sunderland midfielder Lee Clark. He is also at a reasonable price.”
Why might West Ham hesitate on Clark deal?
West Ham may have doubts over Clark that may prohibit a transfer for the former Anfield ace.
He did not exactly light the second tier up last season with the Rams, notching three goals and four assists.
That is not enough contributions for a Hammers side that will be looking to earn an immediate return back to the top-flight.
The best option would be keeping Mateus Fernandes, but the Portuguese midfielder looks set to end his time in East London.
Failing that, they should hand an opportunity to someone like Freddie Potts or George Earthy who know what it means to wear the Claret and Blue and have already excelled on loan spells in the division.
Signing Clark may be a gamble, as while the potential is there, he has never really hit the heights that were expected of him, and he does not have the numbers to make it a surefire hit.
Nuno's side can't afford to get it wrong this summer, they can't be in the second tier next season, as that would be a disaster, both from a footballin perspective and a financial one.
