West Ham United wanted to sign Hull City defender Jacob Greaves in January
West Ham United considered making a move for Hull City defender Jacob Greaves in the January transfer window, according to The Mirror.
Writing on their website (5 March), the news outlet report that the Hammers were looking at the 23-year-old as David Moyes considered bolstering his back line while Nayef Aguerd was at AFCON and there was speculation over the future of Kurt Zouma too.
But a move never materialised and the centre-back, who has been described as “absolutely magnificent” by manager Liam Rosenior, has now also emerged as a target for Everton ahead of the summer window which could see the Hammers take another look at a deal.
West Ham transfer business dependant on David Moyes sack?
The upcoming summer transfer window is going to be absolutely huge for the Hammers, but a lot of what will happen surely depends on the future of David Moyes.
The manager’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but he has revealed that the club have already tabled an extension for him to sign and it will be his decision to make.
But reports from outside the club suggest things aren’t as rosy as they may seem, and that the board are still unsure as to whether or not they want to continue with him heading into next season.

Before any transfer decisions can be made it will be imperative to know who will be in charge of the team. Not only because there’s no point signing players a manager doesn’t want, but no player will want to join without the future being stable.
It’s one to keep an eye on but Greaves would certainly fit in well under Moyes with the way he defends and with his size.
In other West Ham news, permanent Hammers exit already sealed in £9.4m deal for summer window.
