West Ham United submit bid to sign Max Kilman, Wolves respond as Julen Lopetegui eyes deal
West Ham United have made a £25million bid to sign Wolves defender Max Kilman, according to The Telegraph.
The newspaper reported via their website on Friday (21 June) that ex-Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui has prioritised signing a new centre-back. However, it is understood that his opening offer for 27-year-old Kilman is set to be rejected.
John Percy reports that Molineux chiefs want up to £45million for the London-born defender, who played every minute of every Premier League game last season.
Kilman is said to be settled at the West Midlands club but Lopetegui is keen on bringing him to the London Stadium.
Will West Ham United sign Max Kilman from Wolves this summer?
Right now, it seems unlikely that West Ham will be able to sign Kilman.
Tim Steidten has had a stuttering start to the summer transfer window after a mixed bag of results from his recruitment drive in Brazil.
While he did manage to sign Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras, he failed in deals for Fabricio Bruno and Vitao.
It shows the need for new defensive reinforcements at the London Stadium as both Bruno and Vitao were centre-backs but if the Hammers are struggling to sign them – how can they expect to land someone who’s at the peak of his career, a club captain and established in the Premier League?

Kilman was arguably one of Wolves’ best players last season and snaring him away from Molineux isn’t going to be easy at all.
That opening bid of West Ham’s seems paltry too, especially when Wolves rejected a £30million bid from Napoli last year before getting the ex-Maidenhead man to sign a new contract.
If Lopetegui is to get his man, David Sullivan and Steidten need to do a lot better than this.
